Typhoon Morakot slammed Taiwan over the weekend of Aug. 8, 2009 with as much as 80 inches (two meters) of rain, inflicting the worst flooding the island has seen in at least a half-century.
The storm submerged large swaths of farmland in chocolate-brown muck and swamped city streets. A disaster appeared to be unfolding around the isolated southern village of Shiao Lin, which was hit by a mudslide Sunday. Four of the downstream area residents had the dream of an unknown woman crying “save me”. Five days later, they found the woman’s body by the Nantasihsien Creek.
At the night of Aug. 9 when the village of Shiao Lin got wiped out by mudslide, Pearl Pan had a dream of a woman crying “save me”. She suddenly woke up. For the next 4 consecutive nights, she couldn’t sleep as the same dream appeared. She told her husband about the dream. He was startled as he had the same dream.
At the dawn of Aug. 13, the couple drove a bulldozer to the downsteam of Nansaihsien Creek to search for the body. They met two nighobors, Huang and Ye, at the scene. All four people were thrilled while they chatted as they had same dream of this woman.
