158-year-old, known as northern Taiwan's largest "Crossing The Fire" ceremony was held yesterday at the Great Park Township Fuhai Palace. 45 Temple followers barefooted, screamed and carried the palanquin sequentially to cross the sea of flames from the gold (joss) paper. The soul-stirring scene attracted nearly thousands of believers, photographers and onlookers.

At noon yesterday, the medium received the instructions from "Fu Shing Wang Yeh"* to start the palanquin. The Fuhai Palace at once was full of the noise from the drum beating and firecrackers. The palanquins were rotated at the same place or carried across one another. It was so stunning the palanquin carriers’ moving speed could be this fast.

*Wang Yeh: royal lord, are divine emissaries who tour the world of the living on behalf of the celestial realm, expelling disease and evil from those who worship them.
